Franklin Park Fall Festival - Saturday, September
20th - Lots of different activities for all ages!

Donuts and coffee to start the day.

9:00 am - Noon:
Volunteer in
the woodlands
 - clear invasives, restore
paths, and pick up litter. We'll have gloves and tools for everyone. Youth,
church, and community groups welcome! If you sign-up in advance we'll have pizza
lunch for volunteers so you can stay and enjoy activities all day
long.

12:00-2:00
pm:
 Landscape Watercolor Painting Workshop on Schoolmaster Hill - all materials provided. For artists and
beginners! Sponsored by the City of Boston ParkARTS.

1:00-4:00 pm:
 Family Hikes and Tree
Climbing
. Join hike leaders from REI who will
show you how to find your way, describe the animals that live in the park, and
teach "Leave No Trace" - how to protect the fragile forest when you are hiking.
Climb high into the trees (with the aid of ropes and slings) with Andrew Joslin
of BARC (Boston Area Recreational Climbers) - this is a great activity for
teens, but ages 5 to 105 are welcome.

4:00-6:00 pm:
Weeds as Feed Edible Plants Walk - led
by FPC member and local naturalist, Pamela Kristan. Learn about how to make your
salad from park edibles, the bounties of fall roots, and the medicinal
properties of park weeds. Sample a treat!

All activities start at
Valley Gates Parking Lot, midway along the main park road. Look for Fall
Festival signs directing you.

Come enjoy this spectacular season in your
park! Fall Festival participants will get a great new Franklin Park map so you
can explore safely on your own.
