Dorchester Open Studios Registration Information
Don't forget to register for Open Studios!! The
deadline is this Friday, July 18th! This year, Dorchester Open Studios
falls on Saturday October 25th and Sunday October 26th from noon to 5
pm, and we hope you'll join us!
With every passing year, DOS attracts more artists and
visitors than the year before--and we hope to continue that
growth. Open Studios is a wonderful opportunity for local
artists and craftspeople to showcase their work as well as to bring new
visitors to the variety of neighborhoods in our thriving community.
To register, go to http://www.thedac.org
and click on "artist registration" under Open Studios 2008 to be taken
to the information page. Follow the link at the bottom of the page to
be taken to online registration. Online payment can be made using
PayPal (you will be walked through the process during registration) If
you prefer, you can print out a copy of the form as a pdf (link at the
bottom of the registration information page) and mail it to us with a
check. Please note, the DAC mailing address has changed to:
Dorchester Arts Collaborative
11 Pearl Street #2
Dorchester, MA 02125
All participating, registered artists will receive bulk
quantities of promotional materials including postcards and brochures
(late September) listing artists' names and venues, to distribute to
your mailing lists. We will also have e-cards to send out to your
mail groups. Registered artists will be listed on the website with
images of their work. (Please see registration information page on the
web site for further details about how to upload your images using
PhotoBucket).
The deadline for registration is July 18th--so please
don't put it off! If you have any questions about the registration
process or the event itself, please let us know. Register online,
or print out the pdf version and mail it in. Either way, make
sure you register this week! Late registrations will be accepted, but
the fee is higher and we will not be able to guarantee inclusion in the
program materials.
An extra incentive for participation in this year's Open
Studios is inclusion in the Opening Show at the new DAC offices
at the Pearl Street Gallery, home to DAC's new offices. The
'salon style' show is open to everyone who has registered to exhibit as
part of Open Studios. Once you register, you may enter two pieces
no larger than 18* in any dimension, ready for hanging, with your name,
the title of the piece, the medium and the price. A juror will
decide which of the two pieces will be exhibited as part of the Open
Studios Opening Show, and every effort will be made to include one
piece from each exhibitor. All work will be for sale, the
aritist will receive 75% and DAC will receive 25%. Art work by Open
Studios registrants only can be dropped off at the Pearl Street
address on October 3rd, with the exhibit running from October 11th
through November 9th. The show will be the backdrop for the Open
Studios recetion on Friday, October 24th.
For the past six years, Dorchester Open Studios has
brought thousands of people to our neighborhoods and showcased not only
our artists, but our businesses and organizations. But we need your
participation to make it work!
If you know that you will not be participating this
year, please take a moment to let me know by return e-mail, so I can
take you off this e-mail list for this event.
Thank you for supporting Dorchester Arts Collaborative,
and our annual Open Studios. I am happy to answer questions by
e-mail or by phone, so do not hesitate to be in touch.
