Northeastern University Networking for Service-Learning Workshop

Description:

Monday, April 28th 12:00 - 4:00PM in 450 Dodge Hall Lunch provided

The Center of Community Faculty would like to invite you to a workshop in which faculty and community organizations will work together to identify and begin planning for fall 2008 partnerships that will be facilitated through courses utilizing service-learning. Service-Learning is a style of teaching utilized to have students directly or indirectly serve in ways that address needs identified by the partnering community organization, while at the same time the students are able to gain valuable knowledge about what they are learning in class.

Faculty will provide information about past service-learning partnership successes and partnership interests for fall 2008 courses. These brief presentations will occur before participants break down into periodically rotating working groups that will aim to identify how the courses presented on might assist in addressing the needs discussed at each table by participating community organizations. The goal for this workshop is for all participants to come away having developed partnership options and plans for continuing the development of these partnerships over the summer, in preparation for fall 2008. To RSVP please e-mail the application back to service-learning@neu.edu by Thursday, April 10th.
