9th Annual Online Student Essay Contest

Description: 

The theme this year is Making Democracy Work: Vote 2008. As we enter a critical election year, we hope that young people, teachers and youth leaders will discuss the importance of citizen participation in the electoral process and how the results of this election will affect their lives. This contest is open to all Massachusetts students in grades 4-12. This year we are including a question for 18-24 year olds. Essay questions, rules, and prize information are online at http://lwvma.org/EssayContest/Main%20Contest%20Page.shtml . In recognition of the dedication of teachers in encouraging their students to participate, we award a classroom educational grant to the teachers or advisors of the winners. Please note that the contest is not just open to girls It is open to all Massachusetts students grades 4 - 12 and all Massachusetts residents and students 18 - 24 years old.
